Guess Who’s Back? The Return to the Shedrow

Well, well, well. Look who had to dust off the keyboard, pour a ridiculously stiff drink, and drag herself out of a perfectly peaceful retirement.

I honestly thought I was done. I thought when the massive, implosive circus of HiCaliber Horse Rescue finally choked on its own drama years ago, the equine world might have learned a single, solitary lesson. I thought maybe, just maybe, the internet would stop falling for the oldest, sleaziest trick in the book.

I was wrong. Dead wrong.

Because while I was busy enjoying the quiet life, a brand new monster was mutating in the shadows. If you thought the high-drama, cash-grabbing, cult-like insanity of the HiCaliber days was peak trainwreck, brace yourselves. We have officially entered the twilight zone, and what we are dealing with right now is HiCaliber on absolute, unadulterated steroids.

This isn't just a local hustle anymore; it’s an expansive, multi-million-dollar industry. Over on the East Coast, you’ve got Colby’s Crew Rescue (CCR) pulling down an astronomical $11.32 million in 2024 alone, playing a beautifully orchestrated numbers game with northeastern kill buyers like Bruce Rotz.

But right here in California, the landscape is neatly partitioned between two high-volume fundraising operations. Up in Northern California, Border Horse Slaughter Rescue is riding the exact same wave, watching their revenue surge right alongside the slaughter pipeline volume. And further south, the absolute crown jewel of this tech-savvy, hyper-corporate evolution is All Seated in a Barn (ASIAB).

It’s the exact same script across the board, just dressed up in a slicker, multi-million-dollar outfit. We’ve got the same frantic social media countdowns. The same manufactured sob stories designed to panic-strip you of your hard-earned cash. The same weaponized cyber-mobs deployed to hunt down anyone asking for an invoice. Only this time, the numbers aren't just bad—they are astronomical. We are talking about ASIAB pulling down over $5.24 million in a single calendar year, all while playing a cozy, lucrative game of retail co-dependency with a Texas kill buyer.

And just like the good old days, the moment anyone dares to do basic arithmetic or ask where a missing horse actually went, the transparency curtain slams shut and out come the defamation lawsuits. They actually thought they could use a donor-funded war chest to bully everyday advocates into silence. They even dragged an innocent, competing California horse rescue director into a courtroom circus despite having zero proof the person had ever logged into the page in question.

Spoiler alert: They lost. Their vindictive little intimidation campaign completely imploded right here in a California courtroom thanks to a glorious thing called an Anti-SLAPP motion.

So here I am. The keyboard is fired up, the BS meter is pinned in the red, and the coffee is black. Over the next few posts, we are going to completely dismantle the numbers, the lawsuits, the digital mob tactics, and the golden pipeline keeping this entire industry alive from coast to coast, while keeping our eyes locked onto the fallout in the Golden State.

Tie your boots tight, kids. The shedrow doors are wide open, and it's time to clean out the barn.
